Hellenistic period burial found in Turan, Tepelene - brief report

A cist type burial dating to the Hellenistic period has been found by chance in the village of Turan near Tepelene.

The stone-lined grave was discovered by a man working on his land, and contained skeletal remains as well as coins, a lamp and other ceramic vessels.

Specialists were called to the site to document the finds and also remove them for study. The coins will help with a firm dating of the burial. The National Council of Material Cultural Heritage (KKTKM) will report and decide whether further excavation will be needed in the area, as well as any analysis of the finds.
